Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Interesting Article on How to Sucessfully do a Voluntary Workforce reduction - No Joking

  • - https://blog.careerminds.com/voluntary-layoffs

The article above is a step by step on going the voluntary-layoffs route. According to the article the only downside is not getting enough volunteers. No where in the article does it even fathom the idea of getting way too many volunteers.

So, once again Enbridge has raised the bar on successful HR tactics. Way too many volunteers.

What does it say about a company when an employee jumps for joy yelling " I can't believe it, I won the lottery, I get to leave" — akin to getting to leave a war zone — or being deemed sane enough to being released from the asylum.

Contact HR and ask for your 3% back, it is illegal per employment law.

Yes and no.
My director's response was a simple 'there's nothing I can do, it's a corporate thing'
I am now simply along for the ride continuing to receive my (3% less) paycheck, waiting for the next offer or severance.

For those who didn't get the VWO- did you approach management and ask if they will reconsider. I heard they knew they would have to reconsider a few more due to threats to sue, etc.. It would be worth a try. They may actuall show some compassion.

I seriously have no words for those who applied and weren’t picked. I feel for you. It must be terrible. I hope that when they realize they need to cut more jobs, they go to those first who were not approved and give them the same deal.

Same here, simply coasting waiting for the next early retirement package or severance, whichever comes first.

Me too. Applied and didn’t win. Now must go through the motions and I will retire on my terms as well. My terms won’t work out as well for ENB.

I applied for VWO, didn't win the lottery, many younger co workers with less years seniority won the lottery, now doing my job plus theirs while s—ing up the forced pay cut. Angry, unmotivated, disengaged, worn out and tired. Coasting to the end and will retire on my terms
