A question about employment in HW FM&T (Federal Manufacturing & Technologies) in Overland Park, KS

I was RIFed in May. I applied for a position in FM&T, but it required the applicant to have an ABET accredited degree from a US Institution. It seems very weird requirement. Anyone knows some details?

I worked at FM&T for a decade. Excellent organization. You must be an US Citizen .. You must be able to get a Top Secret clearance... That means no felonies, no misbehavior... You must have a degree from an ABET school for an engineering degree.. that is a DOE requirement

Many private US companies also want ABET.

To work at FM&T you have to be a US citizen. Even a green card may not be good enough. If you can't make it past that hurdle the degree requirement is secondary.

Sorry to hear. Assuming you are a us citizen you might ask for a waiver by showing an equivalent objective certification like EQAR. Work experience matters more.

I got my degree from a country in Europe, and it does not meet the requirement.

ABET accredited degree is required for engineering licensing certificates. Many govt jobs have this requirement. Dont pay for unaccredited schools.
