Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Can nyc charge verizon to use its streets?

id–t mayor should just let vz put fios in low income areas instead of lobbying to charge verizon for keeping its cables in street to pay for low income new yorkers internet connection.

I don’t technically think the mayor can do that, ecs has rights from 100 years ago.

Doesn't Verizon already pay taxes and fees for use of the city's right of ways?

Wow, an entire thread with one participant (until I took the bait and responded). Hello, self-loathing union-hating, jealous, bitter, rationalizing the irrational, guy.

New York with its greedy public employee unions milking the tax dollars for every cent to juice those gold plated pensions. The state will tax you for air beathed before long.

Just a thought, being the company took away our hazard pay, what about the Union putting up 300 a week to its members in good standing? Do they care about our well being? Let them at least match what the company gave.... Just a thought that crossed my mind...

The union can't save your job anymore. If a boss wants to suspend you for 8 weeks, they can. Since hans, suspensions are way down. There's also no work, and in the summertime, doesn't bode well for the fall/winter when there's literally nothing to do except watch the same safety videos every day for 8 hours.
