Thread regarding Belk layoffs

When will this stop?

How long can they drag out these layoffs? How long do they plan to torture us with unnecessary anticipation and stressing? Why can't they just get it over with in one or two days instead of making it last for months now? I don't see a reason for it...other than to be intentionally cruel.

Belk has it pretty easy. I worked for Sears for 10 years starting in 2007 (Target/Dillards/Walmart/Kohls before). Every. Single. Year. Around February 1st (budget time), everyone was a nervous wreck until budgets were finalized because you could get a phone call at any minute telling you that is the end of your employment. Even towards the end, it started to extend throughout the year instead of just around February. That's when I had enough of retail and quit. It's been dying for a long time and the days are especially numbered now. If you aren't able to retire in the next year or two, then you will not be retiring from your retail job.
