AME Minneapolis was exempted from furloughs and we were not able to WFH because we were too important to making product/deliveries. Now they are sending almost all of floor support out the door. Seems way too odd.

They invested tens of millions in the factory just over the last few years. Deep cuts are indicative of the forward business outlook. Period. Stop.
Apparently they see deep cuts in demand next year and are signaling this with cuts on the factory floor. Equipment support isn’t needed if they have no demand beyond current orders. Forward looks translate to the downstream sites as well. Can you hear me behind those masks in Florida? We are your canary in the mine. Take action with your career and stock positions accordingly.
I heard that there was already stuff down, stopping production, and the people that take care of it were RIFed. There has been little to no investment equipment wise in the past 20 years. Just enough to get by.
I’m sure we will keep plugging along, management will just have to figure out who will backfill all the day to day support the engineers provided.

@twp it is not just engineering. There is a lot of dead weight on the tech side as well. I to hate seeing ppl loose there job but when u have guys sitti g there just staring at there screens for hours on end or repeatedly taking apart and putting back togather the same shop unit over and over again when there customer units to be done that's not cool. It brings the whole team down. Especially if they are working on a line that is not cradle to grave and everyone on the line has to pitch in or sh– does not move through to quality in any good amount of time....
There were way too many engineers. I hate to see anyone lose their job but there is a lot of dead weight and few that that are actually being productive.
There has to be some kind of reorg coming. You can't support production effectively with only a couple engineers covering 3-4 different areas when there were 6 doing the job last week.
Not sure what Mpls is doing. The layoffs were deep and who got it was decided by the Mpls mgt. People got phone called while they were on vacation. Some areas had volunteers but they were denied and another person from the same area was involuntarily laid off. The survivors got the short end of the stick.
