Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Do our phones have gps tracking too?

Obviously our company vehicles have GPS tracking, but do our company phones also have this feature?

Yes. It’s Verizon’s property so they have a right to monitor its location. Just like the company emails are considered Verizons property. That’s why you watch what you say or text. Like 1984 claimed BIG HANS IS VATCHING YOU.

all devices that go through the network can be tracked. Company can use for "safety" reasons. or so stated.
General a court order is required for individual devices to be tracked. Request for data is way up.
All devices leave info that can be checked by such Government agency as the NSA
There is a amazing amount of data that can be gathered as a group, for example: a system snapshot during a riot. Tie this in with security cameras, it makes it hard to say your weren't there.
Outside of the tech's and engineers, most people have no clue as to the level of in formation that can provide a profile of where you went, who you may have seen, for how long, call history, travails, and on and on.
As a field engineer, for trouble shooting system or individual problems, I had programs with at least 60 days of call info to pull up. what towers, sector, frequency, type of phone, call time, over lay of maps, signal strength, type of phone, the list goes on and on.
This was done to id such items is it a phone problem, network, software, coverage, or just a p-ss-d off customer.
Some time referred as god view.
We are big brother, and we have embraced being tracked.
If your going to be bad or questionable, leave your phone off. At home in the john.
By the way, I'm so happy taking the buyout 1 1/2 yrs ago. 20 yrs field network, 5 cell companies.

If it is company owned equipment, the company can trace it location as well as track its usage. As to whether management can use the information depends on the policies in place. If security is called in, I image they would be able to activate and use the features.

As a side note, if they issue it and they determined you turned it off during working hours, I would think they could discipline for this.

Managers on land-line side do not have systems to track cell phones unless they have special apps loaded in the the phones. On the wireless side managers have the systems to track but are not allowed to. HR for both sides is the same managers cannot use tracking on cell phones for discipline. I am a former manager.

Managers were showing the techs that they know when the phone was on there truck or in a backyard last winter. Everybody turns off company phone.

VZ does not use GPS tracking via cell phones even if it is a company owned cell phone. Managers and techs with access to systems that can trace a cellphone have actually been fired for using it to track an employee. GPS for company owned vehicles is all that is used to track whereabouts of their vehicles

The system cross tracks your phones position to your company vehicle position.

Pretty much all cell phones have some kind of tracking. You have GPS as well as cell tower tracking. Think about it.
