Today is the last day of employment for those in the USA (and other countries?) who received 60 days of notice.

I've had some reasonable managers in IBM, mostly males over the last couple of decades. However, the final two were females, and really should have had a psych workup before being hired, one went mad on the job and was fired, led to the firing of a great manager for no apparent reason. The last one you wouldn't piss on if on fire, bounced from job to job, and had her entire team at loggerheads with her inept lack of management for the entire duration. Some great tech folk to work with, dedicated and hard working but despondent always looking over their shoulder.

But sh– eh IBM, yo let all those good folk go chasing the cheaper minions .. and truly, you got what you asked for..

I was hit in 2015, two weeks notice that you are gone, then got 30 days more with the company to "find" a job (of course no one will talk to you). Then you are gone, no healthcare, no nothing. yes they cheated me on my compensation too after selling a $12 million dollar deal I worked on from tech sales side for 9 months. Just a complete shell of a former company and a fraud. My advice is to run away now and to let your friends and family know to keep away. Management is clueless and in panic mode and they have no direction.

Actually, I may be in a somewhat not-so-normal position. I was glad for the severance that was provided as 6 months ago, all you would have had is 1 month and "don't let the door hit you on the way out". At least, now it's reasonable financially and I especially appreciated the health coverage option for 2 years. This is the first time I've ever been laid off and tbh I know I will land on my feet. It may take a few weeks (or even a couple of months) but I'm glad I'm out. The last 3 months had been a nightmare: so many internal calls on how to convince your clients they need IBM to help with the COVID situation, so many cadence calls to check on your numbers, so many webex meetings with 100+ attendees, so many required training sessions, so much BS... I will miss my old team but, for me, I'm glad I'm out.

One thing IBM should capitalize on is: offer the same "package" to current employees. I wager many will take it in a heartbeat. There will be another round coming in early fall and I am not so sure they will be as generous then...

Off to my next job: finding a job!

We accomplished a lot together, made some great memories and drank plenty of Kool-Aid. Best wishes in the future.

IBM is a slowly sinking ship (maybe not so slow).
Amusing and truthful cartoon of the USS IBM.
