I was told that I'm "cheap" compared to my Suntrust counterparts so I'm more likely to keep my job. However this is definitely a Suntrust takeover so I would be surprised if heritage BB&T teammates fair very well.

Currently management is picking who will remain, it is unfortunate that they will be looking at salaries as well as reducing middle management greatly. Once that is complete, the will start in the forth quarter. For some reason they love to do RIF's during the holidays. They will do it all in one week with no warning. Sorry, that's just how it is done, a horrible impersonal way. All the best guys and gals!
Anyone know when/where the next axe is falling?
I was let go from BB&T mid-December after over 15 years of service. It was tough, especially since I believed in their culture and attended their Banking School. Unfortunately, all that "culture" was gone after the merger was announced. Best of luck to you all.
When we first met I was excited to start our adventure together knowing we would make a great team. I was wide eyed, and ready for all the things you offered me. I believed in your promises that I was part of the Best Bank in Town and always followed your every direction. I was willing to go the extra mile for you and in my faithfulness I turned others down because I believed in your vision for us. Now you are leaving me for a younger and better version of myself. You are deserting me in my time of need and the one thing I’ve asked in this time is for you to be transparent. You can’t even do that. I do however have a bit of an embarrassing part of me that hopes that the younger version of myself treats you the way you have treated me. That they wear you out, lie to you, make false promises and takes you for all you’ve got as you did to me.
Brace yourselves. This is only the beginning. Management has been asked to start picking who they are willing to let go. Your name and your co-workers names are on lists prioritized from keep to fire.
Any word if there has been any layoffs in the retail branches or if there will be any expected?
