20 years at AT&T and almost 1 year at IBM down the drain.
How many got the notice yesterday?
I guess we knew it was coming and shouldn’t be very surprised.
Still very sad.

Not surprised AT&T is in big trouble due to poor leadership. Anyone left at IBM don't feel confident in your future your a pawn in their corp game. Do not believe in anything they tell all is mostly lies to keep you working. Watch out for you and only you
Best of luck to everyone impacted as you will be in our prayers/
I fully expect to be told my new "permanent" role will be at a lower pay rate. Total compensation is already lower even at the same salary. I'm already looking.
For those former ATT employees that survived the IBM cut - do you anticipate any changes to your salary once the first year is up? I heard for the first year you kept the same number of PTO days that you had with ATT. Is that also changing once the first year is up?
For the person who works in storage which part of storage did you work in?
I’m in this camp too.
Truthfully though, the work environment at IBM has been extremely toxic. 12 plus hour days, calls late at night.
I loved working at AT&T, and had some amazing coworkers and managers there. But the IBM experience has been horrific. Zero work life balance. Having to take orders from id–ts in India. It has been the worst year of my professional life.
Most of my team got cut .....confirmed 4 of 7 got cut so far.
Great way to spoil our holiday weekend. 😳
IBM has become "America Last". Not in synch with Americans. It's essentially a foreign company using low cost third world labor. What's odd is the Indian Outsourcers are increasing their hiring of Western employees in places like Europe.
IBM is circling the drain. Most corporations are voting against IBM and going with AWS, Azure and Google for Public Cloud. There is nothing special about IBM anymore and when the Mainframe goes the way of the Dinosaur, IBM will lose it's last hold on it's customers. IBM is, unfortunately, a company in terminal decline.
the same will be true for the people who landed at amdocs and tech mahindra too, give it a month or two.
42% of the bodies involved in Yosemite were cut yesterday. 13% had already left due to attrition. Approximately 25% of those head counts will be replaced with offshore resources who receive half-arsed training and no support and no domain knowledge or business knowledge.
AT&T knew this was the outcome but felt it was easier to pay IBM to do their dirty work, but it was well known 50% of the rebadged employees would be working a 12 months severance. Your IBM offer used the explicit language "regular employee with a predefined termination date". AT&T thought they were offloading bodies to run outdated infrastructure while they got their public cloud migration pipeline running.
Their public cloud migration pipeline hasn't even gotten off the ground yet and now their chosen overtaker for their death-row non-cloud/private cloud stuff doesn't have the bodies or the knowledge to run it.
It's Karma in action and I hope it blows up in AT&Ts face with some major outages.
Yep I got hit yesterday work in storage heard 50% cuts in teams
I work in TechDev, but didn’t get outsourced yet.
I know five people in SW, NE and SE who got RA’d related to IBM deal.
I feel dumb for taking all of AT&T's 2020 training and happy I did not start a Mano degree. What a waste.
I got RA’d too
Sad day in history. I came from VZ and while not surprised that there were more layoffs I was surprised that they cut areas that were part of the future and that had revenue.
We knew but not ever ready. 7/16/19 was the date that changed our lives and now this. Don’t know what to think or do, nor who all got notified
