My AVP was obsessed with powerpoint presentations looking perfect. he did not understand content, but he could spot inconsistencies in fonts and text alignment from slide to slide. Good old Jeff M. He was using his organization to climb the ladder on the backs of others. All fluff. No substance. Still there.
I've always considered the position to be a 'gimmie', a gum drop hand out, a perk invented to give a friend and/or family member a high paying position that has a fancy title to make them an "Elite", and separate them from you, the peasant. Often the position has little no no direct reports. As well as it's held by a millennial but not always. It appears to be a holding position, waiting for someone to retire, get reorged out, surplus/layoff, and then stick that 'special cases' chosen person into the newly opening higher position of VP, SVP, or Pres. It's also used as a staging area to make sure they kiss @$$ the right way, before moving onto the target ladder rung.
We need assistance in the field too, they used to be called Helpers. Too many layers upon layers of executive positions while those on the frontline and low level management are being constantly streamlined, right-sized, surplussed, not back-filled.
There is so much micromanaging and so many added rules and policies that we don’t hardly have time to do actual productive work and serve our customers. I need an assistant in the field just to keep up with the useless 20 emails and 15-20 texts we get everyday and mtgs. Every exec to the 2nd levels think they have to constantly justify their job with out of touch town halls, videos and repetitive email nonsense. We need to someone like Trump to come in for awhile remove all of these onus regulations/policies and get rid of a lot of non essential, c-suite, board of no direction, pompous, bonus s—ing, morale k–ling, egotistical, over paid, nepotistic, sycophants. They are as useful as tits on a wooden horse. Stop the big data, top down micromanaging and let us on the frontline get back to what we were great at, Customer Service!
