Heard third party that Executive Management is discussing certain positions, internal, for furlough to get them through then next 6 months. I for sure will probably be one of them as I'm doing nothing working from home:(

Yes, if you are furloughed you will keep your benefits, much better than being laid off.

Does anyone know if furloughs will allow employees to keep benefits or no? I am sure this would depend on if they think the furloughs are temporary or not. Any info. You may have would be appreciated.

They can't accelerate branch closing for one year after merger as that was part of the agreement with the fed. That's why they are thinking of furloughs to cut expenses. Also they are hoping some workers find other positions so they won't have to pay severance in the future. Actually this would benefit them in these tough times.

Lot of client facing and back room people with nothing to do right now. No surprise this might happen, only question is how many. Seems it would be a good time to accelerate branch consolidation also. On the other hand some areas are swamped due to the current economic conditions.
