We’ve all seen this play out in other contexts. Abusive relationship limps along for years until a tragedy “changes everything”. After the dust settles the abused and the abuser reunite because it’s easy and familiar.
follett continually demonstrates its contempt towards its staff. Even during this national emergency, it cut staff first.
follett cut the cord, the opened the cage door, they yelled at you to “go away! We don’t want you”.

Why would anyone want to go back at this point? Hopefully Follett and Barnes Stores just go away and most of you can just shift into a college run store where you will be appreciated for your knowledge and the students can actually be served.
Follett/Barnes: Slams the door and runs people out the door with nothing more than a weak promise of even being re-hired and not even a paid benefits thank you. No consideration for the fact that they are supposed to be getting the Summer/Fall ready right now even if remotely. A lot of colleges and their students are going to get royally screwed when the fog raises on this and you will be the one to take the heat if you go back.
Independent world mindset: Put up the sails on the ship! There is opportunity here and the wind is blowing in another direction. Build an online warehouse to serve our students. I got ahold of our updated enrollment reports yesterday and enrollments are through the roof. People are bored and have nothing to do! Even dinosaurs that never wanted digital are giving it a go in this new world.
Follett and Barnes missed a huge opportunity to re-invent themselves here and I am loving every minute of the funeral procession.
Would you go back?
By asking that question, one is assuming that Follett won't use this as a chance to restructure the store staffing requirements. I believe during the layoffs they said...employees will be invited back to their position...IF it still exists.
With sales taking a hit, many graduations being canceled, and many campuses talking about going virtual for Summer 2020 AND Fall 2020...Do you really think they're not going to be eliminating positions?
I am betting pay cuts won't be given back either.
But..but think about the poor family just trying to sc-ape by right now
