Thread regarding Follett layoffs

This may be the end.....

There was a communication that went out yesterday about a mandatory call today 4/2 at 10am CST with PC (the president of the company) titled Covid-19 update about the business in this environment. Could this be the end????? I checked my bank account this morning and I received my direct deposit a day early which has never happened before. Is this my last paycheck from the Ivory Tower (as the field calls it)????

Working from home is definitely easier and for those that are lazy, less work. Store managers have the most difficult job at Follett. Serving many masters while way understaffed.

Paid in full + a bonus.

Home Depot is giving employees extra paid vacation to thank their employees.

We VALUE EACH AND EVERY ASSOCIATE! HA!

"Notice that people in “our” position work significantly more hours due to less distraction."
If you are a sm and are currently sitting in front of a computer 40 hrs a week, because there is that much work, the sm that is still in the store is doing the same but plus any/all other work-and they are risking their health to do it. So yes, they do deserve to be paid in full.

I love that some think people who are working from home think they put in less hours. Do your research. Notice that people in “our” position work significantly more hours due to less distraction. Instead of comparing yourself to others and thinking the grass is greener, maybe find some inner-happiness with what you have currently. If you want to be ungrateful for still having a job during this pandemic (which, lets be honest, has hurt a ton of companies during this difficult time), maybe you should see yourself out to greener pastures....

Even Disneyland is furloughing their employees and they're lead by a genius mouse.

I can understand people working from home having a cotton pay since I am 100% sure they're not putting in a 40 hour week but the managers that are in the stores now doing more work because they have to do everything on their own should be getting a pay raise instead of a cut. Other retail stores that are open are paying their help more to show up.
Why are we risking our health and our families to be cut in pay?
I am more than happy to stay home for 10% cut instead of k–ling myself every day doing every task.
Let's not forget those markups that must be done, and haul that boxes to the dumpster, do those ist and online orders because you are now the shipping clerk.

Do ALL of the jobs with no help. You’re essential but no, you won’t be getting hazard pay in fact, we’re going to pay you LESS because that makes sense. Handshakes and high fives all around. REALITY CHECK: RM’s and GVP’s should be cut completely before our pay is reduced. What a crock. Us store managers are better connected to our contacts than GVP’s and RM’s are. Hell, my contact thinks my RM is a creep and if you know him, you know why. Because he is.

I would take a 10% pay reduction vs dropping my hours by 40% in April and 60% in May/June!

10% pay reduction to all salaried employees, whether work from home or still at an open store for the next 90 days (minimum). So much for hazard pay.

So I wonder how many in the Ivory Tower realize how their jobs are linked to those little people that work in the stores? Wonder how many in the Ivory Tower will be coming back after 90 days if the folks in the stores say, I REALLY hate this company and the people that run it and I'll never come back.
Too funny!

I applied for Unemployment when I got the call from my SM last Monday. No info yet. I talked to HR today and apparently our last day of employment was March 31st, so it might be delayed another week or two.

Anybody heard from unemployment yet in Illinois?

So what’s happening to the hourly full-timers who were “temporarily” sh–canned last week. Is that being extended or made permanent?

But what about FSS???? They've paid the bills for years!!!!
Can't we count on them now?
Pray God FSS doesn't have to take a pay cuts!
And the Family! They'll still get their divided checks right?

By tomorrow everyone will know their fate.
There is little money coming in, not much they can do.

So who is left to have their salaries cut?

Are they cutting the salaries of the Store Managers that are the only person working in the stores trying to be the warehouse and ship books?

Or are the people in the Ivory Tower whose only job is to support store operations getting their salaries cut to sit on the bottoms in the Ivory Tower and do nothing because for all intents and purposes there is no work for them to do?

What a s it show.

If I were to guess, anywhere between 10-20%. However keep in mind some states have a minimum except salary requirement. So it wouldn’t be below that. And yes, company wide.

Caught the last two minutes and heard that Salaried staff will experience a temporary pay cut. Some will be furloughed. PC is one such person with a cut. Information is going out in prepared packets for dissemination asap. This is typical of Follett when they make a major hit, plan and then execute quickly. Then follow up with 'we will endure' to make up for it. Also benefits will extend out fully for the next 90 days apropos of furloughed?

Please share after the call.
Expecting double talk about how they'll keep the executives on payroll so they are ready to hit the ground running when they reopen.
Figuring out how to get the family's grubby hands on the federal dollars that is supposed to help the hourly workers just like they did the tax break in Illinois to keep the business in IL.

Paid in the field here too. My guess is those of us with field stores in statuses one and two are about to have a very hard day. The company is not generous and never will be. It will however feed everyone else to the crocadile hoping to be eaten last. Good luck today, try and be safe.

NEVER underestimate the generosity of the Follett Family - to their buddies!

The Family pays MS, their GC to make sure THEY get every dime from everyone.

Should be interesting when some of the primary weasels and hatchet men and women in the company have outlived their usefulness and the family RIF's their butts!
