Anyone who try’s to tell you they are making 120k as a engineer is lying!! After all the union dues and other c-ap, where lucky to pull in 70k with overtime. Not to mention the stress of loosing your Job. Been working since 99 and still don’t no if I’ll be working tamorrow

Lol. “Fair company”. I’m sorry but NS has gone to sh– in the last year. Many of you may not agree with me, but when they forced Corbin and Chandler out, all traces of the old railroad died. Now it’s just Squires and his peons. Everyone and everything is just an expense. He doesn’t care about any employee, just his bonus and his top shareholders. Everything he says is all about PR, don’t fool yourself and believe any of the lies. If someone was seriously hurt or even k–led on the job, his only concern is the financial impact.
Trip rates. Guys sleeping on the job, playing on cell phones, and marking off whenever they feel like it. Wonder y we r tanking. Smdh!
Have you ever heard of a "trip rate"? Thats right, its called making 12+ hours of pay no matter how fast you get the train somewhere. That is how people can make over $100k easily in a year.....
To the guy who called T&E a "petri dish"- you wouldn't have a job without T&E, they run the trains which is pretty much the point of a railroad. The engineers and conductors can make do without the rest of you because everything else can be contracted out if need be. Just Saying.............

You people who travel from town to town, you are spredding the virus , I know you have to keep these so called steel wheels going, but you are spreading the virus. As a beancounter ,I see that it is all about the money.I hear the "confidential" conversations with these higher ups right at the coffee pot. All they talk about is getting through this thing without getting sued for putting there profit before human lives, Many of the staff that is left is a bit yonger because of mass layoffs in pursuit of precision. These younger guys are just what we need to fill the ranks. yet they are layed off . Management need to say , you older guys stay home, and you younger guys laid off to come badk to work to fill in the vacume
Umm nope buddy!!!! There ARE Engineers making $140k/yr and I know some making close to $200k!! The only thing is it’s only happening in the Northern regions(where the van freight moves in spades, New Jersey to Chicago corridor). The southern employees don’t want to work overtime at all and want a quit 6 hour day every time. I know because I have seen it. I have worked both the south and north in T&E- the south part is lazy, shoddy and prone to violating every rule in the book to finish work quickly. The north gets bird dogged constantly by trainmasters and told that double mains are a crazy concept. And cab signals.....forget about it!! The southern boys think cab signals are black magic!!! You CAN make a LOT of money on the NS- if you are up north, of you stay marked up all year and if you are an engineer with very decent seniority...
And I mean it
JUST IN . yOU guys in transportation., You guys are becoming the testube for N.S. you interact with more people than I do/, You stay at public motels with massages by electric motor for $1.00 You guys are petri dishes Do me a big favor, stay away from me.

Who ever thinks this company is good is the mo–n, you can make good money at a lot of jobs if you work 120 hours a week. After 20 years of the b—s— they finally figured out how to fire me and make it look like it was my fault. There mickey mouse investigations where you are not allowed to have witnesses. I feel bad for all of you that still have to put up with it. You can call me short tempered , mean , or a grumpy b–tard , but they will never beat me , I will survive without those arrogant b–tards. The big so called managers will soon get there due for the sake of the stock holders, I don't want to hear their crying. I will not hide , I'm sure some manager will see this , but , as always , I DON'T care !!!

When someone says they "Make" 120k a year, they are referring to Gross Pay as indicated below. Not bring home. Hope this helps!

It’s is net! My point is we have people saying we make 120k a year but we only really make about 70. It doesn’t matter what u gross because eu only have the 70 to pay bills. I could make a million a year but if I only bring home 80k, I’m not living like a millionaire whose the dummy now

Who goes by bring home pay dummy? When a mortgage lender wants to know what you make, they want to know your... get this "GROSS PAY"

If you are only Grossing 70k as an engineer, you must be mark off quite a bit!! Either that, or you simply don't know the difference between Net and Gross.
Nobody here is educated. That’s y we put up with this. People who went to school are working at good jobs. You can spend ur time correcting my English but that is all u can do since u can’t argue what I say. I make about 70k after all is said is done but take into account how many hours I work. Dummy.

The engineers are paid quite handsomely. The company has always taken very good care of us. Lets all remember that when you go into work that you need to put in the extra effort and give 110% for the sake of our fair company. We must keep the steel wheels rolling to supply our great country. Where is your patriotic duty my good man
I know I wouldn't want to pull a 150 car train , all those rules ,being gone from family and living out of a suitcase. hats off to you guys.
