Lets stop worrying about layoffs. We need to keep our noses to the grindstone for the sake of all those people who put money down on our company in the form of stocks. They are the real bosses and it is they that we need to please on a daily basis. So in closing we need to put in a little extra elbow grease to keep the steel wheels rolling.

First of all you have to dumb yourself down to work at this sh– show.I know some don't have to dumb theirselves down at all so they will have a hard time. Normal smucks can find something comparable but you'll have to try in the real world. You can't be playing on your phones and taking naps and 2 hour dumps. Get rid of you railroad mentally and you'll be ok.

When I joined it was for stability. I left a job that paid more hourly, but at times I would be laid off for 3 to 4 months.. when I got hired it was railroaders supervising railroaders... Forman were teachers and had your best interest in mind to make the railroad a great and productive place to work.. I was proud of that. Now it’s some 22 year old college kid that has no clue trying to be your boss and when the $hit hits the fan it’s full blown panic. They don’t know the first thing about actually railroading other than what they read in a rule book, as of now I’ve been laid off from the railroad (as we all know it’s do to the greedy) and I had two options.. go back to my old job, or look for a new one. I was able to find a job that makes what I did at NS and room to grow. So as far the person that called BS on the good paying jobs other than The RR. you’re wrong. There really is Good jobs out there. Ya just gotta look.

Lying? I hired in when I was 18, of course when you’re working for the railroad you’re not looking for other jobs so that’s why I put up with all the bs over the last 15 years. Yes I bring home the same amount of money starting off at my new job as I was making at full rate at the railroad because I’m not paying worthless union dues, tier 1&2. My uniforms are paid for. And for the guy saying engineers make $120k and conductors $80k, I’m only workin a 40 hr week Mon-Fri and have more family time than ever. Also don’t have a bunch of nobody management watching every move you make trying to put a feather in their cap. Y’all keep churchin up how great the railroad is, y’all are clueless lmao. If this were back in the 60’s y’all would be right. In today’s world, there’s a LOT better jobs out there point blank.

I hope nobody gets put on the street I know a lot of good people that are still working that at scx, I got laid off and happen to get a job making same take home money not sure if I was lucky or there are plenty of those jobs but this site is ridiculous in that our shops are pitted against each other and people wish ill towards others how about we stop being little trolls and just hope for the best and prepare for the worst bc if u still work at ns u come to work almost everyday wondering if this will be your last but hoping u will just survive the next round. All will be ok in the end, scx the best shop minus a few people but I'm sure good shops all over.

If you haven't noticed already, everyone on this site that gets furloughed always says the same thing. "I'm glad I got laid off, the grass is greenier on the other side of the tracks and I bring more money now than I ever did working for NS."

It makes you wonder why these people hired on in the 1st place! Oh yeah, they are lying!

What new job did you get making more than the railroad? Cuz where I am engineers make over $120k and conductors upwards of $80k+

If you lose your job and lose everything and your family goes through hell, that’s solely your own fault. I got a job 2 weeks after being furloughed after 15 years of service and bring home more money than I did at the railroad. I’ll never go back. For anyone to hang on to the railroad as a “dream job that supports the family” is just delusional. There’s so much better out there.

You can hide under that rock and pretend everything at NS will be just fine if you want to. I live in reality, not a dreamland!

Amazing how people on here just love to create fear and misery on here. You all lead such a sad life to actually want another human being to experience such pain and anxiety. How would you feel if someone walked up to you and said that they wish for you to lose everything and your family to go through hell? Try to meet someone today and uplift them.

Lay off everybody. Heck they can just build robots to replace us. Its only a matter of time and you will see trains without an engineer.
