When Lowe’s put in place the initiatives to set customer limits on the Counter App, Store Managers and ASM’s were outside putting on a show that they were on the “frontlines” with their employees. Very quickly they disappeared back inside to do what they do best—nothing! Now that corporate has rushed to roll the hours back to almost regular closing times, the initiatives also had to be increased (counting customers at all entrances, sanitizing carts and requiring employees to wear ppe ). How much labor are we wasting by doing this? All entrances and exits are staffed with employees on a rotating basis, including sanitizing the carts. Of course, this is “beneath” upper management, but they play “hero” on the busy days by strutting out front and waving in hoards of customers and instructing the counters to stop counting. This is a total crock of sh–. Stick your counter app, and make the cart cleaning “self service” for these hoards of rude and impatient customers that you a–holes are arbitrarily “waving in”!!!

Lowe’s management isn’t leaders, they are followers. Marvin follows his Home Depot playbook, regional vp’s follow Marvin’s orders like bobble heads, district mangers follow the RVPs, store managers follow DMs and so on. Management lives with the constant threat of being fired. “Do this or you’ll be fired.” Same with the MSTs, they have to take pictures of the bays they set up. Their told do this, do that or you’ll be fired. I’m surprised that this threat based style of management hasn’t made it to the associates yet; at least not at my store.
Who declared Marvin to be a retail genius?
Its so dangerous. We stopped sanitizing weeks ago, but now we’re not even doing normal basic cleaning. We are too overloaded. Now that things are opening up, customers are going completely insane. They are all treating us like disposable trash more than ever. Total abuse all day. I have never been so insulted and attacked by customers so many times in one day in my career. And somehow our hours are being cut already?!? We can’t handle the load with the people we have now! There’s so many broken things, serious hazards all through the store that I just cannot believe somebody hasn’t gotten injured or k–led. These customers cannot control themselves any longer, not that they were before. The company keeps cutting us off at the knees, doesn’t even give us a fighting chance to save ourselves, or even do our jobs. The managers have evaporated in our store, too scared to come out and deal with it. just come out long enough to say something rude with their sh–ty attitude, or yell at us for something that we have no control over. Lowe’s better start training their managers to be leaders and not a bunch of cowardly douche bags. Personally, I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up. Physically or mentally. And you could just feel the disease spreading as all these people pour in, not following any guidelines, touching everything, even people spitting in lawn and garden. WTF!?
We have not cleaned in weeks! Too busy and short staffed! Its a joke! Customers better wipe their own! We just got a corona victim in our store! Do they care...no! Come buy some sh– and get a virus!!
this company is wreckless in it's pursuit of profits. They already have the blood of a few associates on their hands....but oh that bottom line looks so good. Are we at $200 yet? Shaw wipes his arse with fresh $20 bills just because he likes the texture so you know the direction will not change until it's time for them to sell out.
Our store manager disregard customer count weeks ago. He just want the business , our limit is 500 customers but we reach 1800 without doing anything.
My state requires that they count but they stopped. I feel like they can do whatever they want and there will be zero repercussions.
Wait, you still have associates counting customers? My store has stopped doing it all together. Cart sanitation is a joke. A few carts may get wipped down every few hours but 90% of them get no cleaning what so ever. Hand sanitizer is out and we have not had hand soap for employees, we have resulted to Polmolive dish washing soap for that.
Yeah, they abandoned being counters after the first day. Now they just log in and hand it to someone to do the counting. Usually a brand new associate not even in a vest yet.
Customers at my store wipe down their own carts and then throw the wipey on the floor or leave it in the cart. Some of them have elaborate rituals and use handfuls of the wipes to clean the cart.
