Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

They couldn't wait to get rid of the hazard pay

I can just imagine how the decision making on this issue went. The pandemic is far from over but hey - we'll do some mental gymnastics to convince everybody that things are so much better now and everybody is safe and can come to work and sing kumbaya and the world is a better place and no more hazard pay because the world is such a good place but still make sure to disinfect and wear a mask and check your temperature and...

I'd just be happy if AT&T would tell me that somebody that has been diagnosed as positive. That way I would know were to clean. We have field techs camping out in the Central Offices and at least two of them have tested positive. The company response was that EH&S came in and did a "complete cleaning" Bullscat.

What we were told is that it was never “hazard pay” instead it was an “attendance bonus “. An incentive by T to try and reduce the number of employees to take the 160hrs of Covid-19 leave that was offered.

Pffff

We knew going INTO this that the bonus would likely be short lived. Be happy you got one at all compared to the folks who lost their jobs.

As much as I loathe AT&T as a whole, I can't complain about a bonus check.
( Even if it was likely for PR purposes )

Now come on everybody, we all know how much this company is struggling financially right now. We have much more important things to spend our money on than our employees who are out working in a deadly, highly contagious viral pandemic.

For instance, AT&T now requires $3.3 million dollars a year to pay for our beloved, hugely successful CEO's retirement. We wouldn't want Randall to suffer in poverty through his golden years would we?

Oh, and remember, until we tell you otherwise or surplus you, YOU MATTER!

What hazard? The virus is very minor and is going away soon, with or without a vaccine.

I’m staying out of customers homes! Hazard pay or not Covid is still out there! My health is more important to me! If the T really cared about us they would roll back the non essential installs!!
