Listen to the end questions or read the transcript from the earnings call this mourning. Mark said that SOME ambassadors will be called back not all....that and they talked about all the money they could look to save to help pay for all the added safety COVID measures they will need to take. I wouldn't be surprised if 20% of ambassadors are never called back to work, especially Full Time and Salaried who they have to buy benefits for.

I wouldn’t necessarily say tours and camps bring in any significant sum of money. If anything, it offsets the labor and expense cost of the broader department with maybe a 30% flow-through to the bottom, not efficient by any means. Also guess what people are very unlikely to do in the foreseeable future? Tours and camps.
The SD education criteria could be met by additional signage and keeping a curator on board. I would expect education to be hit harder than any other department through all this, which is saying a lot. This department may not even exist anymore.
Education Department? They'll have to keep some form of Education. That doesn't mean it will look anywhere near the same. Tours and camps bring in money. San Diego's lease requires an Educational component and school program so there is some protection there. SR certainly likes to call on Ed last second for all sorts of things, but I imagine it will shrink just kike the other departments.
Will they still need an Education Department?
While I am sure some people will be offered part time slots... there is no way they can the enterprise only on part time even if scott ross wants to. Aside from the fact that some departments just cannot operate under that model, they will never be able to keep the enterprise going with that. Anyone worth a damn will move on as soon as they can to another company for benefits alone.
From an operational standpoint I can see them combining a lot of corporate and orlando park positions due to corporate being on site. I always expected it to occur even before the shutdown just slower. If they are going to keep up with the "more work for everyone" mentality they have done for a few years now why not throw more on the corp leaders to run the orlando parks too. The only positive about that... maybe the corp people might finally understand what their stupid ideas do to the parks after an extended involvement.
All that being said... guess we have a few weeks at least to wait and see if the 20% hits any of us. Good luck all.
Just wait and see—no one will be brought back full time, only part time so they won’t have to pay benefits.
Salaried leadership will be hit the hardest.
Any truth to the statements below? Has anyone received correspondence stating they have been let go permanently?
I heard merchandise, culinary and operation leadership will be laid off. Something about limited capacity and our earning projections will be low this year and beyond.
Purportedly the Security Lead was not asked to return from the furlough. Can anyone confirm?
My thoughts exactly. This summer is already shot, few people will travel and the park’s will be mostly dead. Even reopened malls are hardly getting foot traffic, and so many people have lost jobs that traveling and discretionary spending won’t be there.
Like you said, look for most of those furloughs to turn into layoffs. Parks may operate with half of the salaried/FT staff they had before, and very little seasonal, PT labor to get through the next 18 months.
