I was put on "temporary" layoff on April 3rd. Updated resume, got a call 2 weeks later, got hired 2 weeks after that. Later Follett, it's been a slice!

At the end of the day those of us who work in stores whether managers or associates are in 'sales' and as such we are a team or should be. I know I would not ask any member of my team to do any job that I wasn't prepared to do myself. Having said that I would also expect my team members to help out where needed, not just behind the cash register. If that's all you're prepared to do, you might want to look up your job description and maybe look elsewhere.
Good luck.

Remember the employees you have today are what the Family and DG wanted and got! You wanted lots of PT employees there when we needed them the most! You RIF all your FT dedicated associates who cared and you got a bunch of PT student employees who are dedicated to doing as little as possible and collect the pittance you pay them. Yeah Mr. and Ms. MBA that know how to run a business! WHY are you surprised? Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind! Do you really think your PT student help care if you fire them? Your grade Family and Senior Management = F-
YOU FAILED! Get out of my class!

This is what I mean about this generation and their lack of work ethic. You are complaining about having a job and actually working. I wonder what you actually do at your store. Do you walk around and help customers, clean and merchandise or do you stand at the register texting on your phone and using Follett resources to surf the internet?

I'm a one person store doing all the duties of every aspect. GTFO of here with you being forced to do your "salesperson" job.

Salesperson is your function? Is that even a job at Follett? You are a Part Time Team Member. That means you are jack of all trades, not just salesperson.

If you are not ready to go back, with a reason, you are not being forced. Do you have a reason to not return? My guess is you are in a large store if your only function is customer service. Smaller stores all of the employees cross train and do anything needed-restock, clean, check in merchandise, there is a long list you should be doing

Are they pointing a gun at you? Are you chained to a register? NO, you can leave at any time.

Lots of places are hiring, get another job. Working only 25 hours a week you have plenty of time to look & interview. If you get another job start immediately, don’t worry about 2 weeks notice. None of us were given 2 weeks, just laid off immediately.
