Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Safer at home

I pray and hope for those of us that want to stay working from home can permanently. I’ve been become so comfortable being home that I believe it’s safer. I’m doing the same job as I would be doing in the call center. I’m saving on gas! My compute to and from was almost a hour. If you work in a call center you wouldn’t have to worry about others coming to work sick if your at home.

I love the fact we get to do our same jobs at home... I just hate the fact that every opportunity our Director tell us this is temporary... at least 4 times a week she tells us we will return to the office. I appreciate the Up to Speed broadcasts where the executives are giving a transparent message and we are not getting a watered down version of what the local leaders feel may happen.

You just might get your wish. Verizon has been going this route for a few years now. The goal is to close all the corporate call centers...Corona has just expedited this plan. The only issue is what happens after this.

In my eyes we work for a company that waste money all the time for example old Verizon signed removed new sign put up and that building ended up closing...

Not to mention it’s more environmentally friendly if Verizon is so concerned about being Green. As we have seen in the news, since people have been on lockdown air pollution and water pollution have decreased drastically. Seems the responsible thing to do is have employees work from home, if u are a company that can have work from home employees, not only because of Corona. But I’m sure we have leases that would be expensive to break on most of the call centers.
