Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Because everything else worked out so well, right?

Wasn't AT&T TV also supposed to turn the tide? Talk about being delusional.

"AT&T has high hopes for HBO Max, a $15-per-month service, with a goal of 50 million HBO Max subscribers in the United States within five years."

I told the board of directors last year that millennials will pay top dollar to watch endless reruns of a show called friends with most episodes in standard def. and that got me fired. Your pal, Randall

Even my basic cable has no contracts and I can cancel anytime. Has att not gotten contracts are business k–lers. I don’t understand why that is such a hard concept. And yes you can be an anonymous guy online and not a ceo to understand that concept. But it is their business to run into the ground. Good luck.

Look HBOMax is a Johnny come lately , and when 30million + Americans aren't working the last thing their going to do is pony up $10,$15,$20 a month on more TV.. this is going to be far well below expectations ..something tells me management knows this..

They will have to come down to $10/mo. with no contract, fees or box costs. It will have to be a seamless streaming product! I don’t see $15.99/mo. Promotional bait and switch after two years will only exacerbate churn. With more OTT over the air for locals and streaming DTV is obsolete!!

Stanks plan is to give away HBO MAX free to existing HBO customers and the overcharged wireless customers so he can meet his goal.
HBO GO was giving away free content for the pandemic but new downloads of the app were week like his leadership and they did not get that many new downloads vs Netflix 15.77 million new paid subscribers for the 1st quarter. Paid being the operative word there. So stank can't even give his streaming services away for free. He just keeps moving existing customers from one service to another and in the process AT&T loses 1M customers per quarter. Yet he was the best person to take over for Randy.
The new idea is now Apple TV will have the HBO MAX app for download, but Apple will take a cut of the revenue for customers who sign up via that way. If AT&T TV was to turn the tide why do they need Apple to sell it?
I got Apple TV for free for a year when I got a new iPhone and I tired it out and none of the free content even appealed to me, so I don't even use it for free. I have plenty to watch in a saturated streaming market, Between Amazon Prime and Disney + for my kids, I have way more TV than I can watch in a lifetime. If one show appeals to me on a service, I just wait for the season to be over and binge watch it during a free trial period.
