Heard London USRs have been told what written they are losing and eat work they are transitioning too.
Any one know first hand what's going on?

We’re USR’s laid off? If so what were the locations?
USR's are being affected now but who / what group or department is next?
Sure you feel safe now, Enbridge wont stop.
You wont see massive layoffs all at once anymore, they will do small groups and a few people at a time not to cause panic and try to hide it. You watch, I am right!
Honestly there will be lots of jobs for the USR's with the contractors. The work will still need to be done and they will be hiring. But i bet you will soon miss you old job. You will need to work on a quota system. Harder you work more you get. No days off, two weeks unpaid vacation. Hmmmm are you ready for that
And not do the work is just what the USR’s will do.
Oh lawd Jesus paulease. A USR has never entered a house "full" of gas. It's shut off out side and that takes 3 seconds. With all the "life saving rules" USRs feel like it's easier just not to do the work. It didn't leave many options.
I wouldn’t say it was just and expression based on the presentations they made us sit through in the district last year.
I think the 'running in' was meant as an expression asstard!
Maybe that’s the reason for all the USR related LSR violations and why the company made us all sit through those personal risk tolerance sessions and safety stand downs last year.

Running into a house full of gas seems like a bad idea. Maybe USR’s should try walking in while closely monitoring LEL.
just turn wrenches? doesn't the guelph incident show how dangerous their role is? when people are running for their lives, or they think their house is full of gas, usr's run in. as we are seeing due to the virus, its not fun working in life and death situations on a daily basis, some weeks 24 hrs/day. usr's make the same pay as clerks, doesn't seem right.
Reductions of positions in the south, no layoffs but I guess they are going to (try) to move USRs around. But yes, the mechanic position for Legacy Enbridge had been (unfortunately) eliminated.
Only group I saw being laid off was the mechanics. Did I read that wrong? That isn’t hundreds.
Try asking yourself why you're happy that hundreds of people are losing good paying jobs.
And again, this post below is the reason the jobs are leaving. Try being a total prick somewhere else and see how that works for you guys.
"Brought this on themselves.." go eff yourself d bag
They brought this on themselves to be honest. I wonder what will be happening to the field supervisor positions. Will they be eliminated as well? They said there will be no layoffs but how can they cut so many positions then?
Plus the constant complaining from USRs, always filing grievances, having to pay for management for them, etc. And to top it off being ungrateful.
A company will only put up with that for so long before exploring other options.
There are definitely issues with the “workmanship” from contractors and the Guelph incident definitely shows issues with the “workmanship” from our USR’s. If you have bad “workmanship” from both groups the company just picked the less expensive bad option. Makes sense to me.
Come on man. Wake up. We are talking about turning a wrench a few times. It's not rocket science. Workmanship? Maybe if you are talking about a carpenter or electrician.
Add up how much the Guelph incident cost the company? It's not worth the "workmanship". It came at the worst time.
Not having the whole story... But you can't judge every usr and their ability and workmanship on a single f*up but another usr. I could guess what the usr did / didn't do in Guelph.......
As a whole the contractors do not do a great job, they do piece work. The more they can get done the bigger the pay cheque, so corners are cut.
But I guess they are cheaper so the overlords choose those.......
Guelph incident was a USR. That wasn’t safe.
I don't think the contractors are any more or less safe than USR's. Using contractors is a little confusing and annoying for the customers. I do know the most recent Guelph incident had nothing to do with a contractor, and it doesn't get worse than that.
Wondering what is meant by the last poster when they say “customer safety takes a back seat to profit”?
With the current virus situation it seems pretty cold to announce this now. Oh I Know why. Enbridge desperately wants new outsourced positions in place before the end of the year when the contract is up and workers are in a strike position. So sad customer safety takes a back seat to profit.
It is a c-appy thing the company is doing!
Enbridge is told by the OEB just how much profit they can make on residential. In contracting these position out, they must be saving money or why else would they be doing it? Do you really believe that Enbridge will be passing the savings onto the customer or their employees?
The dispatcher is not a lie detector. If you get a call out, take the money and shut your mouth. The usr job requires the equivalent of a night school course at a community college.
Your fellow employees are losing their current role.....and your concerned about a annoying call out that you got 2hrs @ double for. You don't fit in any role / direction this company is going..
And that's why you are being outsourced. Too much attitude. No customer service.
good! im tired of emergency stand-by calls! emergencies where dsp finds it easier to call a USR out to turn on a customer who is off on credit, and should wait until daytime. we will see if a company managing these fake callouts and hire competent people where eating bonbons, and laughing make up most of their time, and if 1 call comes in, they drop the ball! "sorry I thought that was your area..hehehhe" at 3 am!
Thats the Enbridge way........contract out.........appease the shareholder.
Look around the company, you dont think that it will happen? Im sure you all can think of a few spots that have been affected.
Share them here.
Help Desk, parts of HR, IT roles I dont know the all the various names of...
Standby gone, contactor will be on call. USR just did underground leak and hit lines
Heard they are losing 200 / 400 class meters, going to transition to underground work and services. I guess they are only telling 4 employees per meeting.
