As a back stop, the government guarantees the pensions but you have to pay insurance to cover it in their funds. If too many companies file bankruptcy and the government has to cover them all at once, there's trouble.
How long you think it'll take until that runs dry? I doubt there will be anything left by the time some of us actually do retire.
The pension isn't going away, it's just frozen at current payout. Future payments will go to a 401K. Welcome to the 21st century.
Unions = bums! Protecting the lazy! Imagine your counterparts at different locations doing the same work and not getting a pension and next to nothing healthcare. No whining and complaining. Look at your Union leadership?! The only people to get promoted to Shop Steward are the real spineless back stabbers and liars. The Union never promotes a strong independent intelligent individual. It’s only the follower, coward, and imbecile who gets promoted and eventually becomes a Business Agent. The real Union bosses do not want to let a good intelligent individual in the ranks of leadership because it will expose all their foolishness and lies! With no money going into pensions anymore, they still need our dues to be able to send themselves to Jamaica every year.
Every contract negotiation they try to scare us and say you should be lucky you have a job?! What’s the point?! Why all this BS?!
