What is difference? Do you get severance with a furlough?

Read the faqs. Such misinformation and anger here. If you aren’t in it with us, together, why do you stay? Such bitterness and divisiveness doesn’t belong here anymore.

In India, it's against the law to furlough.

The FAQs did say that furloughs can and will affect those who volunteered and were accepted or denied. If you were denied, now you will fall under the old severance package after your furlough.

Sean Putin looked pretty drab in that video. It's a good thing he's donating 20% of his 10 million a year salary so generous. Now that furloughs and layoffs will occur and we were already non-performant as a company it's great to see such leadership! Such a role model. Ship those jobs to India Sean! Layoff some more! Many of us applied for the Voluntary Severance Program only to be denied. Will we now get furloughed?

To @cgs+14ApZFa0, we are not sitting around getting paid. Most of us had 20+ years with the company and are proud to help Sabre in bad times.

And, you had every right to apply for Voluntary why didn’t YOU? If you had clearly read the email & FAQs you’d have read between the lines, even though they said there will not be another VERP. I took the package, reluctantly and today we ALL feel bad for our friends & coworkers today. Don’t doubt that!

When we emerge from the ashes, those that remain, we'll see all the lost jobs go to India. We'll then see additional layoffs to seal the deal in making Sabre an Indian company.

Sweden and China are not having furloughs as well. It is not just BLR per FAQ.

H1Bs had pay reduction but not all - I am on h1 and my pay was reduced.

We created a bail-out for directors and above, we also included rather new people in that package and a package for the serious long-timers. We call that package Early Retirement and Voluntary Layoff.

We create an exception for India in the furlough process

We also make sure H1B's are not affected in the US. (in payroll deductions or furloughs).

Whats that leave ? The Average US Sabre worker gets screwed again.

What a company.

Who really knows who is getting impacted by furlough? Do VPs have this info?
Is it again being driven by finance and People Team?

They mention KTLO but for example I wasn’t even asked to provide information / inputs within team.

Sabre cleverly found a way to terminate employees without severance.

Furlough typically means will not get paid; however, you are technically still an employee and will be called back at some point. Depending on the specifics, you might still keep things like health insurance while on furlough. I guess we'll see what happens this Thursday.

1/3 of the company furloughs

Personally, I feel cheated. Why do the severence approved people get to sit around on payroll for months while we are without a check? Or do those people get furloughed too?
