Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

In two weeks we will be like Italy and Lowes will lay you off and you will be infected -

all because you were afraid to leave the absolute worst job on the planet. If you have any sense at all, you should walk out now. If you are afraid of losing your job, call out sick. Covid-19 cases are doubling every two days in the United States. Cases are highly under reported because testing got started late. There is a good chance you already have it. Which doesn't mean go to work. Go home. Rest. Take care of your health. Take care of your neighbor by not spreading the disease. You won't stop the stupid people from coming into Lowes by complaining here or talking to management. Management is stupid. That's why they took the job. Call out. They don't care about you. Don't let them bully you into staying. This is life or death. Be the bad employee. Nothing ever happens to them. Why do you think you are different? Because you care? Lowes simply doesn't matter. This is your own mind game. Call out. Stay at home. This is k–ling people of all ages. If you have high blood pressure. you are high risk. Doesn't matter what age. If you have asthma you are high risk. Whats going to happen if you are in the hospital for a month? Do you trust Lowes to take care of you?

Wow! We are truly gifted to be in the presents of posters that are citing United Kingdom tabloids as fact. If POTUS had an attention span longer than that as a petulant child perhaps he would have heard during the national security briefings that a global pandemic has been listed as a high threat to the USA for many years. Why don't we blame Truman or perhaps George Washington while we are at it. Exactly where does the buck stop again? Oh that's right, anywhere but your precious Trump. You can go back to watching Sean Hannity for your "facts".

As for the posters sharing their oh so precious views as to why us "little people" should be grateful for a job you are totally missing the point of what is going on here. Many of us have a much larger stake into the success of this company than yourselves and are posting on her because those in the ivory tower are clearly clueless as to what effects some of their actions are having on not only their EMPLOYEES but also on their CUSTOMERS. Some of us, myself included, are living in a county that is currently under a "shelter in place" order yet I am reporting to work and dealing with a public that in many cases is either clueless or totally ignorant as to what is going on with this pandemic. Last two shifts alone I have had customers hand me their personal cell phones wanting me to talk to their contractors in order to solve their non emergency issues. Like I really want to risk holding their germ infected phone near my face.

Over the years I have worked after numerous hurricane recoveries and I know the truly essential role we play during those times. Working during a world wide pandemic is not even remotely the same. The shopping motivations of our "average" customer during this time does not even remotely compare to what we experience after an actual environmental disaster. The fact that we are open 14+ hours and subjecting both our employees and EVERY CUSTOMER THAT WALKS THROUGH OUR FRONT DOOR to increased risk of covid-19 exposure for the sake of profit is pathetic. If you still don't get it than you are more than welcome to come work a few weeks at any store (we are hiring after all) and perhaps you will have a different point of view. Just be sure to hold that phone real close to your face.

Honestly, you should be grateful to have hours and a job. Lots of people are being laid off and your complaining. If you are so disgusted and unhappy at Lowe’s leave or use your sick hours. Complaining about it doesn’t change the fact that you are still collecting a check from such a disgusting company.

The continuing exponential growth of both reported US Covid-19 cases and sadly deaths is foretelling of what is yet to come in this country. The fact that it is near business as usual at Lowe's clearly demonstrates the near total lack of concern coming from those at the top for both those on the front lines and our customers. The 8:30 PM closing time is an insult and still has us open a full hour longer than Walmart (7AM - 8:30PM). Does anyone on this planet actually think that Lowe's is more important to our society at this moment than the retailer with the largest share of the U.S. grocery market? No one is buying that this is about anything but the benjamins. I think investors are starting to get wise about Lowe's lack of leadership as our stock price drops/recoveries are not fairing as well as HD's. I have worked for Lowe's for a very long time and would like to see us succeed but really think corporate's poor handling of this pandemic is going to bite all of us.

Well said. And proof that employees are smart and witty. Unfortunately, work ethic and intelligence will get you no where at Lowes. In order to be a manager, you must pretend to care but not do any work. These guys who are ASMs and Store managers are too busy with their own personal agendas to be bothered with work. They are busy pursuing their own interests like fooling around with cashiers or smoking out in the parking lot or wasting time talking about sports or a combo of all. If you do not have a serious vice that compels you to hide in the old installed sales office or your redneck car, you will never really be a part of the team. How many hard workers do you see get passed up on a promotion by some outside hire who is complete trash? Lowes management is a reflection of the corporate values which all center around the idea of entitlement. The people running the company are simply here for a paycheck just like the corporate pencil pushers. They will never promote hard workers because you pose a threat to them. If you are honest, hard working and a good person, there is no room for you in management. That being said, management and corporate is full of individuals that are so involved in their own personal dramas, they don't have the capacity to understand an issue like CoVid-19. Their ignorance is dangerous to the average worker who is at Lowes on the assumption that their managers have some merit as leaders otherwise they wouldn't be in their position. I can tell you right now, your safety is the last thing on their minds.
