Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

More store cuts

Update: Effective March 22:
Our retail stores
Out of an abundance of caution and to balance the safety of our employees with that of our customers, Verizon has taken the following steps:

All Verizon owned and operated stores will be closed on Sundays.
Stores that are open will operate on reduced hours Monday thru Saturday, 11 AM-4 PM.
In order to increase social distancing and allow more employees to take advantage of work from home, we’ve reduced by 50 percent, the number of employees working shifts in our retail locations and we are paying employees for any shifts they may miss due to these scheduling changes.
The number of customers in a store may not exceed the number of employees working at any given time.
We’re also asking that customers limit transactions in store to the following:

Critical equipment replacements and upgrades,
Critical accessories
Critical troubleshooting.

If and when the reps are allowed back to the store do you think everyone will have to have a China virus test before allowed back? Sources say yes.

They can't close all locations, some do need to stay open to be able to assist customers that really need it. What if your only way to communicate with anyone was through your phone and it just happened to die now? Should that person not be able to buy or get a replacement for 2+ weeks until we reopen stores? Keep in mind some people do not have laptops and other devices to get online with. Last week we had to assist a govt acct mgr with getting 2 devices for the county and they needed them ASAP, w/o an open store, they would have had to wait for shipping, which may have just been overnight, or it could've been 3 days as this was Fri afternoon.

I love how everything they say they are doing is "out of abundance of caution". Please, you're doing bare minimum, abundance of caution would be closing stores 2 weeks ago.

Their message fails to mention that the stores will be manned by managers only, and that they are now cross contaminating people by taking the managers from all different locations to have them work in the stores that will be open. Solid social distancing there.
