Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Green or White WFH?

What dumb A$$ at HW came up with this???? For a company that is suppose to have smart people running it this just shows how low the IQ of leadership is....HW your currnet and future employees will remember how much you really care about their health....

The lack of communication with people managers was disappointing and sad. I know how to best schedule my team to balance safety and productivity, and don't need corporate to make uninformed and uneducated decisions on my behalf.

Wait for the orders from Boeing to dry up, if they haven't already.

Anyone know when the RIFs and Furloughs coming? Not if, when? Canada or US first?
Curious- couple weeks maybe? Customers soon to put everything on credit hold.
Leadership is acting like nothing is happening. Business as usual
Lots of people nervous - good thing we understand human factors (what virus, why are you stressed?) Don’t worry about your kid, she’ll be fine by herself? You just have a cold, we need you to assemble product.

The white team will be laid off because it is not diverse enough.

An email went out at 6:15 pm on today that announced a work from home for all employees whose jobs can be done remotely, effective starting tomorrow, March 18th.

What the latest Charlotte email said was that someone was sick and was being tested for the virus, not that anyone tested positive. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

They just changed that to full time WFH for all that all jobs that allow remote work. No teams BS. I'm sure it was due to potential liability

Not surprised... ok a little bit surprised that Honeywell would stoop this low! Has the media gotten wind of this? The company is using us like sacrificial lambs. Do they even understand the implications of having people in the office infecting each other? Shameful Honeywell!!!!

  • ALL Charlotte personal will WFH, effective immediately"

Heard there was someone tested positive in the building

I wouldn't be surprised if this green/white BS devolves into alternating furlough weeks. Then HoneyHell will be commended for making their numbers in this debacle.

Unbelievable how irresponsible this policy is

  • I hope that there is a big batch of covid 19 waiting for each and every one of those selfish executives that made this decision!!!!

Well it only applies to engineers and management. The workers they don’t care about.

Green and white. Didn't St. Patrick chase all the snakes into the sea? Guess they think we're snakes. Need to look for that pot o'gold at another company. Happy St. Patricks Day, everyone!

I'm sure this was seen as the "great compromise" between opposing factions in some executive suite meeting, but it comes across as the most absurd policy decision I have ever encountered. You can't make this stuff up. Unbelievable.

Boeing has told its employees (other than the plants) to WFH. Boeing's had 5 plant employees test positive. Airbus employees are working from home. And then there's Honeywell. While all the other companies are telling Wall Street that Q1 will be in the c-apper (duh), Honeywell says we're making our numbers! That's why the green and white sh– is happening, as if it'll make a difference. Furloughs next, baby, unless you're already out sick. It's only a matter of time.

Pretty sure I’m calling my state labor board on this. How the hell did this even pass legal muster?!? “People who have school age children are an exception to the policy.” How is that not discrimination against people who have grown children or no children? Even worse, people who have grown children are likely 60 and over- so throw age Discrimination into the mix. A KNOWN vulnerable group being thrust into harms way for NO LOGICAL REASON other than some a–hole executives ego. Never mind the blatant, in your face, disregard for the company’s social responsibility to the community its running operations in.

Let’s see which color team gets wiped out! That is their hope, that if one team gets sick... the other will be ok. What’s next? The hunger games. id–ts!

This company has a SOCIAL responsibility not only to their employees, but also to the communities in which they operate, to take ALL measures to contain the spread of this virus - not a half hearted attempt to appease public opinion by “allowing” part time telecommuting. Telecommuting in these times is not a privilege, but a public health necessity!

Agree. It’s the dumbest strategy. But because Honeywell seeks to control and monitor employees instead of treating them like professionals this isn’t at all surprising.
