Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

"Work from home" The layoff gauge.

Forget about your Check-ins, the biggest factor for the next round of layoffs are the times logged to work from home. I knew this perk sounded too good to be true. One of the Directors was overheard today saying "how long do they really think we will pay them to stay home, ha!"

I didn't hear it first hand, but if this is true I just feel disgusted. Higher Management is rarely going to tell us the behind the scenes. I guess they know we can't rebound from this one. At this point, I regret giving the company so many years. And yes FYI in IT we can see your HAL in and out of campus logged times all your manager has to do is ask for the logs via email.

No business owner or corporation is going to sink the titanic before getting on the life rafts. Notice I didn’t mention the below deck. Expendable and unemployment benefits to employees paid by employer during good times. Why do you think businesses go overseas?

You mean halliburton still has an onshore IT Team. How quaint.

This company would not risk the unbelievably bad PR they would receive by mass laying off people during an international pandemic. Maybe a few people here and there but 99% of us are probably safe until this covid thing is over. But then the head chopping will begin and it will probably be earth shattering.

I heard a similar comment from someone else(not a director) it's the kind of thing they won't ever tell you. It's a business guys, we don't work for the Managers, we work for the investors. Guess how they feel about your job when their investments sunk? Yes there are laws that protect us, but it's a 2-way contract, no company is obligated to keep you hired, same way you can just quit.

We have some good Directors, but like in everything else, not all are good people. That comment though showed more insight than otherwise we would know. Thanks to the IT employee for sharing, now we know.

You might wanna tell whoever you heard that from they are in id–t. This is a international pandemic and an emergency. There are laws that protect you from being fired if your safety is at risk. And requiring you to come in to an office during a pandemic is a risk to your safety.
