Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Forklift drivers and speakers

I just learned that forklift drivers can't have any music playing anymore while they're driving a lift while the store is closed because it's a distraction?

Are they f-ing serious? I've been using a speaker for months and it's no distraction to me whatsoever. It's enjoying to listen to music while you're running the DC or doing the drop list. But now the damn company wants to stop it altogether for no good reason. Anyone else feel me?

They use the paging code on the overhead speakers and let their vulgar rap Music rip all night long. Turn it off 1/2 hour before first manager opens the club. Hope we don’t need the paging system for a code white cuz you can’t get through. Hello, Lawsuit-in-the-Making.

Come to my club... one of the leads wears headphones. Managers don’t say a word.

Diving a forklift at sams isnt worth the headache or a few extra bucks a paycheck. A big part of the reason I quit. They wouldn't let me get away from lift driving. I was forced into the forklift merchandiser job. Said I could take it or not but I still had to drive.

Typical a–holes here. There's a difference between blairing music amd just listening. Of course you don't blare music. Even when listening to my music, I can hear other forklift drivers just fine. Also, I see with my eyes, not my ears. It's irresponsible so-called adults who don't care to watch their surroundings. I'm not one of them and I hate being punished for their irresponsibility. But, you know, whatever a–holes.

Dark side we have a guy with a boombox on his forklift driving around with his forks 5 feet up in the air turning corners and nobody says s***

That's actually been within the policy for several years.

They can go ahead and tell me to turn my music off! Watch my productivity go way down.

I get that you feel as if they are taking away a small joy in the job, however they can’t take away something that you shouldn’t have been doing in the first place, regardless of your feelings, it is dangerous. How can you hear another lift going around corners, or god forbid a person stocking in the front of the aisle. It does slow reaction time, even if it is a small amount. Imagine if you hit somebody. I’ve almost crashed into one the one of the opening leads because he has earphones in while driving and he can’t hear me honk.

You were never suppose to listen to music on a lift, it is a huge safety issue. I use to work overnights & the drivers would get the display speakers off the floor & blair there music it was so loud it was hard to do my work. I complained to the manager & they would turn it down somewhat but by the end of the shift it was right back up there. So I just started wearing my own headphones! But when the music is so vulgar that's a huge problem ,don't cram your music down everyone's throat. So yeah it is a huge safety issue ,your on a lift doing a job pay attention & do that on your own time.

You work for Sams, not yourself. When you are running your own business you can listen to what you want to.
