Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Customer Care Org?

I changed jobs internally the last year and my small niche group was hot potatoed from Wireline to Biz Group to Customer Care in the last year or so. My job function has no relation to Customer Care in the traditional sense.

What's the deal with this organization? What's been their deal the last few years heading in to 2.0? From what I can gleam, the Org is largely non-professional people like call center or techs, with vast layers of management who's only qualification is they have been around forever. The daily emails aimed at Customer Care are immensely spammy, and the leadership insistence on sending rah rah emails with large pictures of themselves is rather disturbing to me.

Not really a concern, positions were June VSP holdovers. When I say niche I mean it.

Knowing this company, they are probably moving your group around so it's in the right place at the right time for a layoff.
