Getting out of Wells Fargo and retail banking in general

I put my notice in last week and cannot be happier. Wells Fargo as a whole has no direction, no growth and is a dead end job. They are closing branches left and right and paying employees less and less. They want to throw extra work at us like packages of change and EKODs, but won’t improve the basically non-existent incentive. Helping customers succeed financially is a joke. We’re basically just order takers and talking ATM’s in the branches. I’ve witnessed other bankers getting paid 65k-75k that do nothing but sit in their office and avoid customers. I actually understand it because I get paid the same salary whether I help a customer or not. If you get horrible service in the branch, that is why. There is literally no motivation to actually help a customer or introduce products that might improve someones financial health. They pay us c-appy little $400 service bonuses a quarter, but not even that amount after taxes. People that go into branches are also awful by the way. They think this is still 1965 where your banker has been working at the same branch for 30 years. They scream and cry like little children when they have to wait in line, or when any little change is made like how to make a deposit or do a withdrawal using a debit card.

I am going somewhere where hard work is monetarily rewarded with motivation to actually help people. Bank branches are a dying breed and I am SO happy to be getting out of retail banking.

I haven’t seen any changes to customer service. It’s just as bad as it’s always been at you dump of a bank. Keep up the bad work and enjoy your new job at chipotle. That’s really the best you former cellphone salesman and hacks can do after WF.

This is a layoff site. No room for stories like this.

Good for you that you got out (voluntarily) and be happy about it. Adding insult to injury for the ones who are forced out and had to figure out how to feed their families.
