Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

how long will it take or what will it take

for state farm to follow other companies and begin to tell folks to pack it up and begin working from home. majority of employees are crammed into four major operation centers, atl, dal, phx, bloomington.

based on the "quality" of some in the hubs, the places are petri dishes already.

Horrible that we were not told the decision before we left today.

Is the DuPont OC in Washington state still open during this outbreak?

@5wki Good for you! You made the right decision for your situation. State Farm doesn't care, downplaying it by saying, "it's just the flu." The hubs are just like all those cruise ships that got infected. It's just a matter of time. They are such selfish a**holes, just thinking about their bottom line, no matter what

I quit my call center job at a major SF hub today. I have "underlying medical conditions" and can't risk getting infected. Self-isolating right now. CBS evacuated Black Rock after two ppl got confirmed with COVID-19. NBA canceled the entire season after ONE player confirmed positive. South by Southwest, Houston Rodeo, Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade and possibly Fiesta San Antonio canceled. LOOK AT THE WRITING ON THE WALL PEOPLE. Zero guidance from the company outside of "wash your hands" and a couple more bottles of hand sanitizer placed in the break room. ARE YOU NUTS? THIS VIRUS IS NOTHING TO BE ****ED WITH. LOOK AT ITALY. Sorry but I'll take my chances with the job market in 2-3 weeks. If there's still a job market left after all this. America is NOT handling this emergency correctly - a handful of cities/states are, but not the nation as a whole.

They fired work from home employees less than two years ago.

Washington state now prohibits any event of more than 250 people in three counties. There are a lot of corporate campuses in the Seattle area, like Microsoft and Amazon, which have already told their employees to avoid coming to the workplace to the maximum extent possible. A NYC CBS 38-story skysc-aper office building was evacuated today after just two employees tested positive for COVID-19, and they are going to disinfect the whole place over two days. Corporate campuses, “HUBS”, skysc-apers, whatever venue you want to call a large gathering of office workers...are breeding grounds for transmission of this, like they are of other colds and flu. I think everyone everywhere is going to be on a wild and bumpy ride over the next few months.

Is there a plan if someone at any of the Hubs becomes infected?

They don't even own the Hubs. Built them, sold them, leased them back. Gets the company out of an unsuccessful venue should they need to extinguish the lease & not be stuck with a huge expensive campus. Already subleasing in Phx.

I don’t think SF in its current incarnation is anywhere near progressive enough to ever allow that to happen. Once they dismantle the company sooner than later.....maybe.

Never gonna happen. Period.

It will never happen. They would shut down or work a skeleton crew at the HUBS

They should pay for internet service and phone if home

They won't allow WFH because if they did then people would ask why they can't do it every day. And State Farm would have no good answer. So to save face everyone will be forced to come in each day.
