How many planning on leaving the union in September?

Listen here to all CWA haters... if you think for a second that the IBEW is any better you are sadly mistaken. We are in a worse predicament than you are. IBEW has basically given up on anything related to AT&T and have focused on organizing Comcast and other outlets to compensate for the loss of dues revenue. IBEW president is a mechanic with no communications background. Let that sink in.
With all the temp work, outsourcing and insourcing, unions need to come back. Look up the history of temping. It was created to break up unions which it has successfully accomplished. They’ve even gotten laws passed that temp workers can’t collect unemployment. The American Staffing Association has a huge lobby and has k–led a lot of good full time jobs. We need unions to stop this.
Unions are still a necessity in the modern work world, especially when dealing with greedy abusive employers like Randall's AT&T.
Unfortunately, the CWA is not up to the task of taking on AT&T. Either they do not possess the will to fight or the talent to stand up to AT&T's highly trained bargaining team during contract time. The workers really deserve more for their dues.
@lgj+13NE4bHL, not only what you said, but they no longer pay dues, AND won't/can't strike and walk off a good paying job like an 1d@t in the face of a bad economy and harm their family. Unions were once a great thing, way back when they first were created because there was a need. They have long since outlived their usefulness, are corrupt, and have infiltrated communist propaganda along with being fertile ground for breeding malcontents as well as a loser magnet. Change my mind.
Any one in a right to work state and quit the union membership at any time, however they are still bound to any contract in place with the Union. They just lose the ability to have representation when they screw up and get in trouble.
You can’t really “leave” the union unless you quit or get into a NMNU or management position. About all you’ll accomplish is not paying union dues.
