Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

More info on layoffs

Got the announcement today that about 200 people, including myself, in financial controls and operations would be laid off effective this Friday. Our department won’t exist for the “New T-Mobile” AKA post merger according to Jon Friere. Knew we couldn’t trust him the moment he stepped into his role back in August. It’s only the beginning of more lay offs!

Bumped from @hlc+13GE94WT for important info on layoffs.

may I ask what exactly your role entailed? I have several friends on the Sprint side in district operations positions that are sweating.

Hi there, would anyone care to share what state they live in? Wondering where these layoffs are happening...

The saddest part of the layoff was health insurance coverage only through May regardless of how long you worked for the company. The severance was average. Not sure why we were strung along in a new department after a reorg that only existed for 6 months.

We were given a month's pay and a severance package. There has not been any info on why the decision was made to let people go instead of change their position. The company had done a lot of internal changes and moved people from department to department. No reason why that couldn't have been done again. Possibly a part of the merger is the Sprint employees would get jobs over internal people. Who knows.

This is how people were flagged for redundancy:
HR to VP: ask the director what Joe and Mary do.
VP to Director: Hey, what Joe and Mary do?
Director: I don't know. Why?
VP to HR: 2 months severance.

So sorry to hear that. Do you get some extra time on payroll so you can look internally? Definitely job hunt outside too! Good luck and thanks for letting us know. Never know how much truth they are telling us... I've never seen layoffs at T-MOBILE before. Not sure if they give outplacement help or extended health care? They like to brag about the warm / caring culture. Want to know how true that is.
