Fatigue mats

Are you allowed to use the anti-fatigue mats? My club, no one is allowed to use them because they could be a trip hazard. Working 8 hours a day is very painful now. While our gm sits in his office. They actually threw them down the compactor. Are we the only club? Just wondering. It is very different when you are moving around constantly like when on the floor but when you are at the register etc and can't move its not good.

You're saying that multiple managers "misunderstood" a directive. That these managers, who were "instructed to remove any rugs on display under furniture/patio furniture" couldn't tell the difference between registers and furniture?

Sounds about right.

I understand you are talking about anti-fatigue mats...I was just thinking perhaps ‘they’ misunderstood the direction.

We're not talking about rugs that were on display under furniture/patio furniture, We're talking about fatigue mats.

We had a brand new manager come in and throw all the cashiers mats away on her 3rd day in the building saying "they look bad". She threw them all away and didnt reorder them. I personally asked her if she understood OSHA standards and she had no clue how to reply. She was gone in under a month. It is a requirement that they give you the option of a fatigue mat. You dont have to use it, but they have to supply you with one.

There was a conference call in which clubs were instructed to remove any rugs that were on display under furniture/patio furniture and not to do that anymore. Other floor mats, like the ones used in bad weather at the entrance doors, are fine to continue using.

Tell them to pull the montly safety walk for the front end. You're supposed to have anti fatigue mats.

In Europe and California, you actually get stools/chairs.

Original poster. Northeast ohio. Mats were in perfect condition. They had been ordered new not that long ago. Trying to figure out if its a localized area or company wide. Seems localized. Next step is go to dm or ho?

Southern Ohio here, they gathered all of ours up and threw them in the compactor, stating they were a trip hazard. Won't reorder. Very hard to work without a mat.

If you will bring it up to your manager, are anti fatigue mats being used at checkout and in good shape with no fraying is one of the questions on the monthly Compliance Review.

If you can't have them, why can they still be ordered?

Just claim back injury due to lack of support to your body while your job expects you to stand for extended periods. Bet those anti-fatigue mats are back before you know it.

I don't know the reason why your Mats were thrown away but I'm an Associate and we still use them in our Store.
