Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Heads up on firings

I have worked for this company for 15 years. I had never had a bad review, was never placed on a performance plan. New management from First data came in and fired 3 people from my group on the same day citing performance issues. When asked for documentation there was no response from the manager nor HR representative on the phone. Seems that they are coming up with reasons to get rid of people to avoid paying severance.

My colleague who was also fired on the same day had worked for the company longer than I have even been alive. Odd how someone who worked for the company for so long and received many awards somehow has performance issues.

Some companies do anything to avoid any severance. Ages ago - this was horrible - a firm I worked for opted outsource and 14 months later fired 140 workers to save the contract. Of that 140, 40 were made rather horrible job offers by another firm so as the parent company, having thus made offers to 40 after then firing 100 by count could avoid 60 days severance instead of 30. Note: the replacement offers were soooooo bad only 10 accepted and thus more outsourcing had to be done for the other 30 real fast. It is a deceitful game indeed.

Were you just let go this month? Did you get a heads up before Christmas?

I am so sorry that you and all of my friends and former colleagues are going through this. I used to work for Fiserv and left for First Data years ago. Between both companies I was there 20 years. I was layed off by FD when they did an office consolidation. I saw my share of layoffs and was one of the last ones left before the lights were turned off. I did get a severance package which was a fraction of what other laid off colleagues got in the past but at least it was something. They weren't known to actually fire people without a performance plan. It shows the desperation for cost cutting. Meanwhile your executives are making millions. Oh and in my area, they are still hiring???? Whats up with that? Sick isn't it? Hang in there!

So sorry to hear, that has to feel awful. So you were fired along with others? Which office did this affect?

The early ones to leave were the lucky ones because they were essentially bought out with severance. Now that time has gone on they will try and push out others without severance, especially with the new quarterly performance metrics.

I feel it will get worse before it gets better :(
