AIG typically hasn't given a raise to most employees in years. You may be an outstanding performer, but only management and senior management seem to be worthy and are given raises. The cost of living continues to increase, but not the pay for working employees. STI who knows. It's always a secret and managers have a way of giving their favorites more.

STI is NOT a pay raise. Upper management makes side money by getting kickbacks from companies they bring in to solve problems that dont exist. Happens ALL THE TIME.

In my department, my Manager is great. But she has her favorites and they always seem to get the best STI's. My Manager also always picks her favorite's to be on task teams instead of letting the group volunteer.
In many Dept’s front line Mgrs have a “pool” to allocate STI money. The amount of monetary discretion is very limited. In a typical group of 7-8 workers only 1-2 will get an STI recommendation over 100%. This also forces Mgrs to shave STI of lesser performing or just less popular workers in order to make their “Star” happy for another 10 months. It’s all done via Excel formulas. Those numbers are then escalated to The SVP who can reallocate as they see fit.
Fun, I know.
Now even some of our recently hired leaders are getting out, like SS. Problems here predate most of the leadership and would require a lot of effort and money to fix. Sad but true.

That's why many do the minimun to get by and not get fired. Especially those who have bee here a while. Don't look for self actualization here. Someone here said AIG is a dystopian company built.on patronage and aelf self dealing. I fully agree. Layoffs this Thursday.
Unfortunately, it's a place where we work a job not a career.
