Stores will only have a GM, 1SM and a Lead specialist. Layoffs are coming for retail

This has been the “rumor” for at least five years now....
I left vzw and I was a SM making $26 a hour they cut an SM out of my old store and it’s a lead now! That happened in Chicago area!
More nonsense, the sky is always falling. This has been the rumor for like 5 years.
I’m sure a lot of AMs are happy to get this notice and leave VZW.
Why should we get out while we can, if you are going to be cut stay as long as you can so they can pay you to leave. They want you to quit so they don’t have a pay out severance. Also I was told this is a gradual move as in they aren’t going to just cut staff instead they are waiting for them to quit/fired or get promoted and not fill the spots.
Every employee at the Big Log location is actively trying to post for a job in corporate or posting out of the company, I have never seen this were every employee is looking to get away from this toxic environment. OH! by the way starting 01/22 business customers will be charged upgrade fees. That should make the corporate stores more " happy " places to work!
Get out while you still can? Seriously? Reduction in SM would be the best thing VZ could do. So often on here it’s all about cutting entry level workers- this isn’t that it is reduction of a role that has become unnecessary and the employees in role complain about the role and the pay. I’d rather see this reduction than stores or frontline. Also, VZ pays SMs 16ish per hour + commissions. If it’s that rough and awful, you can work at fast food or a bank and make half the pay without most of the benefits
This is already happening already! My old district in IL near Rockford has had leads for a while now and my new district RWI05 is doing the same thing one of my SM’s left the company and not only a acting in his place and won’t be here much longer due to 1 GM 1 SM and lead they will offer him that spot! Get out while you can I wish I could :(
In the grand scheme of things this would not be a huge cut for Verizon. Compare it to the care rep cut from several years ago and this would be like half that. I don’t believe this will be a uniform cut throughout the company because of the store hours variance. Another off topic solid rumor I heard is that corporate stores are going to start charging for bill payments. This would be at the BPK and with rep. This would keep things consistent with the indirect locations. Can you imagine the old people coming in with paper checks having to rewrite another one and complaining about the up charge? I love it ! Most reps are miserable in this job ...I make bank and get entertained at the same time.
Definitely not a rumor and for those who work as a SM for those store your in for a rude awakening. Verizon a business and will make the necessary cuts and changes to save themselves money. Your nothing but a number at the of the day regardless if you want to believe it or not. They made cuts before they will again.
I can see this happening in stores that are only open 8 hours. Totally makes sense. It’s the stores that are open 10 plus hours that won’t be able to conform to this. So maybe the rumor is half true. Stores with the hours reduction are slashing SM jobs but how many of those are there?
Retail is dying. If you have a shot to leave..don’t walk, RUN. Change is coming, I believe two managers per store.
According to this post, this happened two years ago:

What is this supposed to be? Phase 2? Lazy SM's the reboot?
Why does this keep resurfacing? Just like store closures? I guess retail is dying a sliw death by a thousand cuts.
Practically speaking there is no need to have 3 managers at stores scheduled 10-7 with less than 10 reps. There is simply not enough work for them to do all day every day.
There are several postings for solutions managers.
I actually believe this.. too many signs
There might be some truth to this. They are currently not backfilling any SM positions
This isn’t true....at all.
Just a rumor? It makes sense though, most SMs do very little, however, they do a majority of the inventory work, open closing the store etc. In NYM a lot of stores still do enough volume that l don't believe in our area.Lets see!
This has been a rumor for the longest time now
