Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Buckle up wire techs.

Coming from downtown ATL and Nashville. 1200 wire technicians will receive notice of reduction.
Also 450 core service technicians/facility technicians. This is coming from low level HR community. Take it how you want, but that’s what I was just told from an HR manager.I will be taking my severance and hitting the road to better things.

Was told by a legacy wiretech, that on Friday they were told by their manager that srv techs are about to do full on fiber installs. And that the writing is on the wall......this may be legit

Legacy t, wireline side. 26 switch and transport techs laid off today obviously including myself after 21 years.

2 weeks before xmas is the c-appy part i have always said it with every lay off i have been through. At&t used to be friends and family, now it is at&t we dont give a f**k ever since it all merged back together. Swb sux as a parent company.

Wireline is f—ed, we gad an email up ob the wall 1st quarter layoffs 12/13/19
2nd quarter layoffs 3/15/20
3rd quarter layoffs 6/15/20
4th quarter layoffs 9/15/20

Think in my case id rather go 1st round instead of some where in the middle

But you must remember, OPTs got surplussed over the last 2 quarters. So actually, it’s to the street.

Just being honest, the way things are going here @ T.. nobody is safe. If you’re safe this quarter, you will under the guillotine next quarter, and so forth.

Do not make plans based on ATT speculation, they have proven to be extremely unstable. make plans according to the economy of the area that you live in.

If that’s true, it likely means the OPT’s will be hit hardest because ST’s and FT’s generally have higher seniority and will bump the OPT’s with lower seniority.

May very well be but wire techs are not surplused by quarter, can happen anytime, so not a 100% sure on the accuracy of this information, Of course we all know trouble's coming
