She has no business calling you old. It's ageism and every bit as derogatory in its use, as any other
discriminatory language. And now that she is a team lead, it is also illegal, and she will be held accountable.
A supervisor cannot harass or discriminate against an employee because of certain specifically protected reasons such as race, s-x, religion, national origin, disability, or age over 40.
The last team lead, at our store, who made a disparaging remark to an employee about their personal s-xual preference was coached. In my opinion, that team lead should have been fired.
No one should be made to feel less than because of their race, s-x, religion, or age. It's cruel.
Why is it that when a new associate comes in he/she is the best thing that ever happened in the eyes of team leads and management? The associates that have been there for Sams for years are pushed to the back ground and overlooked. One of these newer associates has called me old on several occasions and now she is a team lead. My morale is at the lowest point ever.
