Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

So long people

Another weekend of no buyout. I have 5 weeks of vacation and 4 days of work left. I submitted for SIPP in October.

Thanks for the healthcare and paychecks the next 6 weeks.

I feel for anyone that has to stay. You are receiving a major .

The company is not covering your supplemental healthcare..making yourpension worthless..if they dont freeze it.

Screw this place. Screw the worthless union.

Good luck to you and the rest of us in the same boat. This has been the hardest thing I’ve had to come to grip with but we will get through this. We should count our blessings and for those with good health it’s the greatest blessing of all.

Of course, if you're a Prem Tech none of this even applies to you. You are cannon fodder to be worked to death until the company no longer needs you.

I would like to remind everyone on here that retirement benefits and health care coverage are determined by the company you came in under. Individuals who work together and had the same number of years with AT&T, do not always have the same benefits as one another. And not all employees fall under the rule of 75. Between my years of service and age, I am at 82 but if I retired now, I am not eligible for any retirement benefits (medical, phone discounts, etc.) until I am 66 years old because of the company that I was hired under. At one time, we (those of us under that company) had some great retirement benefits to look forward to but slowly and quietly, over time, they have been removed.

You would need to stay until 65 if you dont retire this year.
That's nonsense, since the coverage being dropped is the Medigap coverage once one reached 65. Pre-medicare coverage remains intact.

*Here is what’s changing:

Individuals who retire on or after Jan. 1, 2021 will no longer qualify for a company subsidy once they are eligible for Medicare. This does not change medical coverage prior to qualifying for Medicare.

We continue to provide our current eligible retirees who are not yet eligible for Medicare with some of the best health care coverage in America, and we remain one of only about a quarter of large firms that offer retiree health benefits.*

You would need to stay until 65 if you dont retire this year.

Otherwise you will have to use you own pension income to not only oay for healthcare but the supplemental cost.

If you dont unserstand all of the and thi k your pension and retiree benefits sre safe your ignorance is not my problem.

I am rule of 75 eligible and a combat vet.

So the company knew when you were leaving? If so, why did you think they would offer SIPP?
