a sugar-coated way of saying all is not well and the company is losing money. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/t-cfo-john-stephens-updates-001300180.html

@12VaNQo0-1njy - I agree with you up to a point. There are new technologies that att is just totaling flopping on. i.e voip - my att voip s—ed and my cable voip was lightyears ahead of att - it d was plain, simple, and just worked.
They had uverse and had a chance to deliver but didn't because there is a disease at att and it will never change. So they thought the solution was buying other companies. I get TIme-Warner but don't totally agree with it and now look what they are doing with Time-Warner. They bought DTV when there was no need. If att worked with other companies instead of trying to buy the world they would be in much better shape. But they know better than anyone and force their disease on other people and their customers. att has always tried to put a square peg in a round hole and that thinking is coming to fruition. Their billing is a nightmare and is just one result from the above.
If everything was well, the stock would be at $60. The story at AT&T isn't complicated. If they can jettison landline telephone, and copper in general, along with the people that work it, the company will do all right. If they can't - the stock will sink. It is as simple as that, folks.
What we're seeing here is a lot of posts by people who were already jettisoned or don't want to be. They were preceded by the switchboard and telegraph operators. In other industries, there were people who manufactured buggy whips, stagecoaches, typewriters, word processors, etc.
AT&T is a company with future technologies and past technologies. If you're aligned with the future - good. If you're aligned with the past - sorry.
I was Long Distance. Gone. My brother worked for a quaint entity called a "newspaper". Also gone.
Wake up. Things change. Look at a disappearing entity called a "department store", vanquished by Ebay and Amazon. Copper telecom is in the same boat.
Said 2020 Revenue Growth will be 1-2%. So you can cut all the expenses you want but in the end, revenue must grow. In this range, company is stagnating. From https://dandoadvisors.com/why-is-business-growth-important/ some results resulting from lack of growth:
- Your earnings will stay about the same, if they don’t shrink
- You won’t be able to pay your employees more
- You won’t be able to help your customers with innovative products and services
- You won’t create additional jobs
- You won’t be able to provide more for the families of people in your organization
- You’ll lose great employees who want to grow
- Your competition will grow
- You might be left behind in your industry
- You may get bored in the business
- You will limit the potential of your employees
Well, still making a boatload of profit.... but should be making 5-10x that if the c-suite had a clue and could avoid having "pressure" in every part of the business.
Billy joe song pressure - There will always be pressure at att
Cost initiatives....the reason this message board exists.
