Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I need a new job

I just realized I wasn't even able to properly relax for Christmas. I was surrounded by family and I kept thinking about work, stressing over things that might and might not happen come next year.

I think this was the push I needed. After 15 years, it's time to leave this company. And I'll be honest, the relief I felt once I finally made that decision? Like a ton of weight has been lifted off my chest.

Take it offline. This is only for layoff discussion.

I went thru the same process, I left.
To survive there, you have to become part of the cancer that is coming from upper management.
You made a good choice.
Life is too short.

If you get with Walmart you might get a free vest.

My co-worker quit before Thanksgiving. Said he's never been happier, got a job with a solid company, good benefits & vacation plan. Loves the work he's doing & the management are truly leaders. No more stress or uncertainty about a job. Good luck to you, hope you can land the same!

I left earlier this year. Part of the reason was the chaos of end of year close. Trying to get the books closed and squeeze in time for family, friends, and the holidays was just too much.

This is the first Christmas in 5 or more years that I've really enjoyed. My new job group pretty much stops this time of year, and we're actually encouraged to spend time away from work. Not sitting by a phone/computer waiting for a call from work... but actually unplugged. It's been totally refreshing, and I regret the time and mind power that I wasted at ATT.

The world outside ATT is much healthier. Sound like you're ready to move on; I highly encourage it.

I guarantee you won’t regret it. So many more wonderful companies to work for out there. I am with my second company since I left on my own and I think I found a place to stay for the rest of my career. Since I left on my own I have not heard the words surplus or lay-off and it has been awesome.
Too many people just playing musical chairs so they can survive and be paid to leave at att. Too many people backstabbing and are managers pets so they can be moved back under that manager when things get bad where they moved too. Jobs aren’t filled with the best person for a position it is nothing but who you know and/or related to.
