This is exactly what happened. On my region they abolished 36 regional gang jobs and then cut 30 of our lowest seniority guys. They only put 30 jobs back up. People are losing their minds.

Evening all,

Here's an update to what we know. Had a conference call this afternoon (12-23-19) with NS Labor Relations. They informed the committee with their plan for abolishments. They will be putting out supplemental bid sheets the 26th with approximately 140 abolishments across the system. Effective date Jan 2. Looks as if the ER will be affected the most. WRW still has more work but for how long I don't know. They will also be cutting most if not all Temp signal floaters/maintenance force. They are doing their best to cut the jobs that have the youngest seniority employees on them. In an effort to keep disruption to a minimum. We'll see how that goes. Other positions will be abolished then re-advertised. It basically sounds like they are going to cut the 140 from the bottom of the roster whatever job that may be. Sorry for the news in the Holiday season. I will let you guys know of any updates as I receive them.

Thanks,
Jeff

This is very specific info with regard to the date, number of employees, the fact that a phone call was made. To further substantiate this claim, how did you come to find this out? This site is full of garbage and more info is appreciated.
