Is it just me, or is mediocrity not only tolerated but celebrated at Verizon?

That is how you get promoted and moved around VZ. My ex IT workers were all mediocre. My manager was worthless and the Director was even worse. Lucky me most of them have been let go.

Mediocrity is celebrated at publicly traded companies. Why should Verizon recruit high-performing employees without competition in the telecommunications industry?
mediocrity = lower cost employees = dividend increases
