Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Department bonuses and other things taken away by the management!

Way back when I first started, we used to get department bonuses if we performed well. Some of us worked our tails off to get results and the spiffs and commissions were a reward from the Vendors. Then the monthly bonuses went away...a pay cut.

Then Lowe's decided to take away the spiffs and commissions and I took a huge hit but decided to stay because they "Promised" us that we would get the compensation as long as we stayed with the company and did not take a salaried position, but still another pay cut.

Some of us took on Department Manager positions to help ease that pay cut. Then they eliminated the Department Manager position...another pay cut.

Now, they are taking away what was promised to us. I stayed because I love what I do and the difference I could make, but with this latest cut, I am now making less than I did 14 years ago. It baffles me how a Fortune 50 company can treat the people that got them there so poorly. I don't know who is actually making these decisions, but it's clear that they don't keep their promises and don't care about me. I know the decisions are all made based on "the bottom line", but the bottom line is this...

I used to think that Lowe's was a great place to work and I still love what I do, but I can't afford to keep going backward and Lowe's is going to lose a lot of good people that have helped them get to where they are.

You all have a choice to make. Stay and swirl the bowl and be forced out based on current policies. Thankless. Or leave by 01/31/2020 on your own terms.

I'm in the exact same boat as the poster here. 15 1/2 years and in February officially making less than the day I started. Almost 500 sick hours banked and zero "red boxes" in forever. I've never drank the "Kool-Aid" because I know how it works but this has gotten to the point of ridiculousness. I've always loved my job and bust my a–. Day after day. Marvin can take his "God Bless" garbage and shove it straight up his black a–. I refused to take the Employee Opinion Survey because I vowed to my Store Manager that I would never lie to him. Yet, I see the writing, and the writing screams "get out."

It robbing Peter to pay Paul. Have you seen the new IT Campus they are building? And to recruit the talent they want they will have to pay 100k for starting salaries, they need to balance the books somehow. What they don’t realize is that Corp doesn’t exist without the Stores.

Well written post.

The Teamsters have just gotten lazy to have not organized warehouse stores by now. The payoff they're getting is greater than potential dues...

The moral is rock bottom. I have never seen it worse. Once again everyone will be guessing into the new year as to what us next on the chopping block. They only care about profits, not employees. We have lost all of the people at corporate that cared about the employees in the field. Now we have these corporate raiders that are gutting the stores, while Marvin smirks in his dumb photos. Get him out.

People need to turn the tables on the corporate big wigs. Cause disruption in the work flow from the ground up. Meaning slow down on tasks, run out of time to do them, when you're downstocking do only a box an hour. When you slow things down, the SM then gets c-ap from the district and if enough store associates across multiple stores, multiple districts act eventually the company will rot from the inside.

It starts with the boots on the ground associates. Associates CAN NOT forget they are the ones that empower the corporate exec, not the other way around. Bottom up is the future. Store Associates need to learn this and grasp that concept.

Store Level Associates hold the power, they just don't realize it.
