You'll have to see the new Logo, it's purple and the symbol looks like an international sign for airport restrooms!

Truist originates from Altruistic. They dropped the Al and the ic. They are anything but Altruistic. They will screw you say 'bless your heart' while they are doing it.

I do not think people will switch because of the name.

They will switch if service levels drop. Or, if fees go up.

SunTrust (STI) and BB&T (BBT), two of America's largest banks, unveiled Truist on Wednesday as the new brand name for their soon-to-be merged company. The banks said the combined holding company would be called Truist Financial Corporation and the combined bank would be called Truist Bank. The new logo has not yet been released.
According to the CEO of SunTrust, the name represents the coming together of two companies "to serve our customers as a true financial partner."
The banks said they came with Truist following a "rigorous, data-driven" process from consulting firm Interbrand that gave priority to input from employees and customers.
The BB&T and SunTrust brands, which have a combined history of 275 years, will be "seamlessly transferred" to Truist over time, the companies said.
It's not surprising that the new name was quickly mocked by people on Twitter - with some comparing it to the infamous and short-lived rebrand from Tribune Publishing (TPCO) to Tronc.
"It's trying too hard to be unique before you deserve it," said Andy Gilman, president and CEO of CommCore Consulting, in an email. "You must earn my Truist, not assume that I am your Truist."
The name change reflects an environment after the 2008 financial crisis and high-profile scandals in which consumers often consider big skeptics.
Wells Fargo (WFC), for example, still has to recover from a scandal of two and a half years that has damaged the reputation of the legendary bank.
Gilman said that while the Truist brand may eventually gain acceptance, it can backfire if the bank itself encounters a controversy.
"I don't envy their crisis team when they stumble into their first reputation," Gilman said. "They will be mocked - if not now - for the aggressive name selection."
In February, BB&T and SunTrust announced a $ 66 billion merger. The transaction, which is expected to close later this year, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval, will form America's sixth largest bank, with more than 10 million households as customers.
"True to the legacy of both companies," BB&T CEO Kelly King said in a statement, "Truist will reflect what we stand for - a shared belief in building a better future for our customers and communities."
The rebrand is not finished yet.
In addition to voting on the proposed merger, the shareholders of BB&T will also have the opportunity to vote on the name of the new holding company.
Some Atlanta Braves fans are already losing sleep because of the name change because the MLB team is playing at SunTrust Park.
In a joint statement, SunTrust and the Atlanta Braves said they would "work together" on a new name for the stadium. The name of the football park remains unchanged this season.
