Layoffs in San Antonio

Oracle will be laying off half of the Deal Management workforce by mid November. Jobs are being moved to India once again proving money is the only thing that matters to Oracle.

I left the company a while ago, but I predicted this while I was there. I could see more and more things being simplified and sent to Bangalore. I knew that it was only a matter of time. Oracle does not care about paying it's people fairly. They just hope that the fun outings and culture can keep you from paying too much attention to the fact that you are underpaid and not appreciated. At any rate, I am very saddened that these layoffs have come to fruition. I wished that I would have been wrong.

This happened today. Was told this morning it happened, however my management team was not sure of the scope.

Well, money at the expense of a quality product, money at the expense of good customer service, money at the expense of your company reputation. Making a profit is, of course, what it is all about, but not having these things will eliminate any and all short term gains for long term problems. eventually for everyone - even Oracle - it will catch up to you.

The only emps who care about foosball and nap pods and all that sh– are the younger people who they are trying to woo to apply to Oracle. The people who are doing the actual work don’t have time for those distractions. So you could say it is spent “on people” in a twisted and evil way, in order to minimize payroll and serve as a beacon for certain groups.

I don't know how anyone can say only money is important to Oracle.

Oracle is very happy if not eager to spend money on buildings. They are dying to put in game rooms (foosball or ping pong, anyone?), or ripping out cubes and putting in open plan workstations that nobody wants and everybody hates, and I've heard people talking that they hired a company to clean chairs in one of the buildings in Orlando. Cleaning. Chairs. I didn't believe it until I asked someone there and they showed me the email announcing it.

But for payroll? Need to have people to fill a shift? What? That involved overtime? Nope. Not interested in paying people anything, they have chairs to clean and buildings to reconfigure.
