Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Back to the future - apps and DB

Bloomberg:
“Oracle is no longer dreaming of cloud dominance.
The company’s goal is no longer to dethrone Amazon Web Services but to remain competitive in database and applications”

Ops, what happened LE?

Oracle is doomed. Customers are trying to get off of the Oracle DB, which is really all that Oracle has. The rest of Oracle's stuff is c-ap. Lots of purchased applications bolted on in various ways, sabotaged on the inside by in-fighting and sabotaged by the upper management with cost cuts at the wrong time.

Even the DB area is going downhill, good people have left and people from other areas of the company are moving in, to try to save themselves. They will only sabotage what is left.

Oracle's time has come and gone. It's hard to accept, but it is the truth. Unless you are very, very close to retirement, you really need to move on. As hard as it is to get another job in your forties, it's a hundred times more difficult over 50. Move on as soon as you can.

Would have been a good decision 5 years ago, before MH and LE laid off all the great Reps and SE's INCLUDING KB who if you have not noticed, built the success Oracle HAD, and never missed his numbers. Not missing his numbers at SalesForce, where many of the good ones wound up at. I used to think LE was brilliant, now not so much. His love for MH made him blind. NCR, UNISYS, HP and now Oracle. Quite a record of destruction for one individual.

The only hope for salvation is LE will just get tired of it all and sell off rdbms to Microsoft. We'll shed all the ugly baggage of being evil extortionists and be all shiny and new again! If O wins the copyright battle with G O Will be even more hated than ever.

TK was more right than LE.

LE talk doesn't make up for zero investment except in propping up stock.

Oracle cloud melted away like the cheap dermal fillers. Someday we won't care about you.

If only less flawed could really have been something.

Once upon a time on Sayonara.

It’s about time.

Isn’t this what TK wanted all along?

Why would O want to “dominate” in a commodity space? Leave that to AWS and go after the value added space (our DB and SaaS).
