Why is there a lack of diversity in management: ethnicity, gender, age?

Things won't change; only those they (corporate) are most comfortable fraternizing with will have a seat at the table and/or in top leadership positions- qualified or not!
At what level? I know of many managers, Directors and VP's who fit into a diverse background including all those listed above. Are you saying we should have quota's? How would that even work. The SJW out there have a thousand minorities. What would the non-diverse group get? Explain how this works. While doing that, explain what part ability to do the job plays in this. I always seem to miss that part of the diversity debate.
